Research Professor at Norwegian Institute of International Affairs
Morten Bøås (PhD) is Research Professor at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). Morten has been the PI of several EU Horizon 2020 funded project including the recently completed ‘Preventing Violent Extremism in the Balkans and the MENA: Strengthening Resilience in Enabling Environments (PREVEX)’.
Morten works predominantly in Africa and the Middle East on insurgencies, civil war and its consequences for human security, and he is the author of a number of articles, book chapters and books about conflict and conflict resolution in Africa, including the two volumes on African insurgencies published by Lynne Rienner Publishers. The most recent one titled African Insurgencies Navigating an Evolving Landscape.
